Special Class in Liturgics, Liturgical Cycles and Liturgical Dynamics:

Beginning Saturday January 15 and continuing through February 19 (excluding February 5), Tracey will be offering a class Saturdays at 5pm on the various layers that contribute to the cycles that constitute our liturgical life and the several changing and unchanging elements that make them up.  The class is called “Liturgical Dynamics,” referring to the movement we experience in liturgical celebration as we pass from day to day, week to week and season to season.

This class is intended to deepen the knowledge and experience of Orthodox Christians.  Since it will occur during the usual pre-vespers choir rehearsal and Inquirers’ Class, all Inquirers and choristers are encouraged to attend.  All readers/Readers are likewise encouraged to attend.

The class will cover basic liturgical elements and practice; the basic sources of liturgical texts; the nature and ordering of liturgical time; and the various types of liturgical services and how they are ordered.  Time will be allowed for questions, and questions submitted in advance will be woven into the tapestry of the class.

It would be helpful if those wishing to attend would sign up in advance, and be faithful in attending.  The class will be cumulative in its structure, so it would be helpful – but not required – if there was a consistent enrollment.  A sign-up list will be posted in the foyer of the Parish Hall.
