St. Nicholas will host training in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd June 15-30, 2020.
Based on the educational philosophy of Maria Montessori and adapted to Orthodox parishes, the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a program that provides well-rounded education in the Christian faith that recognizes the gifts and abilities of the 3- to 6-year-olds it’s directed to.
The training forms the adult to serve the child, providing a prepared space where the child can experience silence, order and concentration in works based on practical life, the Liturgy and the Bible.
The workshop happens from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, June 15-20, 2020.
The workshop presenter will be Shelley Finkler, Formation Leader for the National Association of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and Director of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd at St. John Orthodox Cathedral in Eagle River, Alaska.
