Blessed Andrew, Fool for Christ, was a 10th-century Slav who lived in Constantinople. An angel of God appeared to him in a dream and told him, “Be a fool for My sake and you will receive much in the day of My Kingdom.” After many years of living as a Fool for Christ, the saint was praying at the Blachernae church, where he saw the Mother of God holding her veil over those praying for her protection (October 1). He died in 936.

Choir director Tracey Edson will discuss the hymnography of upcoming Church feasts. Presentations begin at 4:45 p.m. on Saturdays before Vespers.

Church School Classes for Ages 6-12 Begin
Church School classes for children 6-9 years old happen at 8:30 a.m. Sunday mornings; classes for children 6-12 years old after Liturgy. Contact Barbara Eng for details.

Opportunities for Spiritual Growth
Book Study Group Thursdays at noon (in person)
Fr. John leads a book study group that meets Thursdays at approximately noon. He has purchased a small number of copies of the book Christ in the Psalms by Fr. Patrick Henry Reardon. Please contact Fr. John to get a copy for $15.
Bible Study Group Tuesday evenings (in person)
Fr. John also leads an in-person Bible study at 7 p.m. Tuesday evenings.
Inquirers’ classes to begin in September (in person)
Inquirers’ classes will take place Saturday afternoons beginning September 17 at 4 p.m. in the choir room in the parish hall. Classes are a requirement for anyone intending to become Orthodox, but are open to anyone interested, including parishioners wanting a refresher. Email Fr. John to express your interest.
Morning Prayer (Zoom)
Every weekday we offer a short (15- to 20-minute) morning prayer by Zoom. This is a great way to start the day together with fellow Orthodox Christians. We meet at 8:15 a.m. Everyone is welcome to join!

Friday Evening Discussion Group (Zoom)
Please join us at 7 p.m. Fridays to read and discuss the Holy Scriptures and learn about the major Orthodox Saints.
